Online Meetings: When & How
In this webinar, attorney Steven Black with Black, Slaughter & Black, P.A., provides a wealth of information regarding conducting association Board and Membership Meetings online. In the Board Meeting section, he discusses a Board's options when it comes to conducting meetings virtually - how to properly manage meetings via platforms like Zoom or Skype, how quorum rules apply to virtual meetings and how to vote through email by obtaining unanimous consent. He also goes into specifics about how laws in both North and South Carolina affect these online meetings.
In the Membership Meeting section, Mr. Black touches on the issue of due process that arises when conducting Membership Meetings online. He also offers solutions to Membership Meeting problems that may arise when they're held online and discusses the value of the mail-in ballot and how to properly notice the meetings and allow for member comments on an electronic platform.
In the last two sections of this webinar, Mr. Black goes into how online meetings can be properly held for things like Budget Ratification and Fine Hearings. If you didn't get a chance to attend the live version, please check out the recorded meeting for access to valuable knowledge that can help your Board navigate online meetings during this time of social distancing.
