Being the Good Sheriff: Being Reasonable with Violations
In this presentation, Attorney Chris Gelwicks of the McIntosh Law Firm discusses key information surrounding community association violations. He begins by going over some NC & SC state statutes, then explores what boards should seek to achieve when handing down violations to members, and emphasizes the importance of being reasonable. There are also some great mock hearings featured in this presentation that give examples of what can happen when boards seek to be punitive and how the use of vague language in governing documents can negatively affect the association.
